Streak-free windows: a simple method

The right time, the right tools and the right motion for clear glass, even by the sea.

Streaks on glass usually come from drying too fast or a cloth that does not absorb enough. In Agadir, sea air and dust leave a film that calls for a little method.

Pick the right moment

Avoid full sun: the product dries before it is wiped off and leaves streaks. Early morning or a slightly overcast day works better.

The tools

  • A bucket of lukewarm water with a few drops of mild dish soap.
  • A clean squeegee with a blade in good condition.
  • A clean microfibre cloth for the edges, and another to dry the frame.

The steps

  • Dust the frame and sill first to avoid mud.
  • Wet the glass with a sponge or cloth.
  • Pull the squeegee from top to bottom, wiping the blade after each pass.
  • Dry the edges and sill with the microfibre cloth.

Near the sea

Salt and dust form a deposit that cleans better after a first rinse with clear water. If it is thick, repeat the process rather than scrubbing hard.

Height and safety

Do not try to clean out-of-reach windows by leaning out: safety comes first. For large glass doors, glass balustrades and high surfaces, a properly equipped professional is a better choice.
